Gold Wo International Holdings (GWIHLQ HK)

Year: 2002

Hong Kong household products manufacturer Gold Wo listed on the Hong Kong Exchange in March 2001. Shortly thereafter, the company's share price rose five-fold before crashing. In December 2002, the exchange halted trading in the company's shares as management could not be contacted. It transpired that management had been arrested for an alleged bribery scam in relation to the company's listing and of defrauding banks. Management was successfully convicted and jailed in 2007. Meanwhile, it auditors were censured by Hong Kong's accounting regulator in 2018. Gold Wo is a confirmed fraud.
