China Fiber Optic was targeted by short-seller Emerson Analytics in August 2015, alleging that sales and profits had been fabricated. The company was slow to issue a rebuttal, taking six weeks to formally respond in detail. In January 2016, the company issued a profit warning which can signal that a fraud is being unwound. Hong Kong's securities regulator, the SFC, issued a trading suspension in October 2016, presumably following its own investigation which suggested the company was a fraud. The company was delisted in February 2019.
