New Century Shipbuilding Ltd (NCSL SP)

Year: 2010

Chinese shipbuilder New Century Shipbuilding attempted to list on the Singapore Exchange in August 2008 but had to abandon these plans owing to the unfolding Global Financial Crisis. In May 2010, its second attempt to list in Singapore resulted in the IPO being yanked at the last minute following the discovery that it had failed to disclose legal claims of US$60m over contracts. New Century Shipbuilding was issued a supervisory warning by the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) in view of the inaccuracies in its prospectus. In 2011, the company submitted an application to list in Hong Kong but this was withdrawn in December 2012.
